Senator Faisal Vawda Criticizes Judicial System, Calls for Reform Before Democracy and Establishment

Senator Faisal Vawda has emphasized the need for judicial reforms in Pakistan before addressing issues related to democracy and the establishment. Speaking on a private TV channel, he stated that the core issue affecting Pakistan’s foundation is its flawed judicial system. Vawda argued that true justice, as envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam, cannot be achieved without rectifying the unfairness in the judiciary.

He pointed to historical injustices, such as the judicial execution of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, whose case was only revisited 45 years later. Vawda also criticized the prolonged legal proceedings involving former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, which he believes were a failure of the judicial system.

Further discussing the political landscape, Vawda claimed that Imran Khan’s growing popularity is fueled by public dissatisfaction with the current government. He also stated that, even if Nawaz Sharif competes alone in an election, he would finish third.

On the subject of Imran Khan’s future, Vawda suggested that the PTI leader is likely to seek a deal if offered, adding that Khan has not taken any principled stand against negotiations. Vawda also expressed his belief that Khan’s potential military trial would not come as a shock.

Addressing the state of PTI, Vawda stated that the party is essentially finished, with no intention of rejoining it, and criticized the lack of opportunities for younger leaders within the political system.

In his concluding remarks, Vawda stressed the importance of alignment between democracy, the establishment, and the judiciary for the country to progress. He also noted that the implementation of constitutional laws and reforms is lacking, with leaders and politicians often indulging in corruption and dishonesty.
