Scientists Solve Mystery of the Sun Turning Blue Nearly Two Centuries Ago

London:A team of scientists has finally unraveled the mystery of the Sun turning blue almost two centuries ago. According to research conducted by scientists at the University of Scotland, the phenomenon occurred after a massive volcanic eruption in 1831, which released a large amount of sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere, causing the Sun to appear blue. This led to an unusual drop in temperature globally.

To validate their discovery, the researchers studied ice core records and noted that there were no eyewitness accounts of the eruption in 1831, as it occurred on a remote and uninhabited island named Smooshir, located in the disputed territory between Russia and Japan at the time.

The team further analyzed icy volcanic ash samples collected from the eruption center in a laboratory, leading to a groundbreaking discovery.

Scientists have warned that a similar volcanic eruption could occur again, potentially disrupting life on Earth.
