US Imposes Sanctions on Four Pakistani Entities Over Ballistic Missile Program

Washington:The United States has imposed sanctions on four Pakistani entities in connection with their involvement in the development of long-range ballistic missiles. During a press briefing in Washington, U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller stated that these entities are accused of assisting Pakistan’s ballistic missile program.

Miller further explained that the assistance provided by these entities includes the production of specialized vehicle chassis used for launching ballistic missiles. The sanctions specifically target four institutions, including the National Development Complex (NDC) in Islamabad, as well as three Karachi-based entities: Akhtar & Sons, Affiliates International, and Rookside Enterprises.

The U.S. official emphasized that the sanctions are part of a broader effort to address the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) and their delivery systems. He added that actions will be taken against those involved in the production or transfer of WMDs and related technologies.

The entities facing U.S. sanctions will now be restricted from accessing U.S. financial systems and may face trade barriers, particularly in relation to sensitive defense technologies. The U.S. government has consistently raised concerns over the proliferation of missile technologies and aims to prevent their spread, especially in regions of strategic importance.

The move is likely to escalate tensions between the U.S. and Pakistan, as it is seen as part of Washington’s broader efforts to curb the development and transfer of advanced missile technologies globally.
