George Linde Misses Team Bus, Reaches Stadium with Police Escort
Durban: South African cricketer George Linde had an unexpected and somewhat embarrassing start to the first T20I against Pakistan, as he missed the team bus to the stadium. After a wait of over three years to play for his national side, Linde was looking forward to making an impact in his comeback match. However, due to a time discrepancy on his phone, he ended up missing the bus.
Linde explained that his phone’s time was 15 minutes behind the actual schedule. He had planned to leave early and catch the bus ahead of time but found the bus already on its way when he stepped outside. “Seeing the bus leave without me wasn’t a good feeling at all,” he admitted. Fortunately, local police officers were on hand to assist him, and he was able to catch up with the team on time.
“That was quite an embarrassing situation for me,” Linde added. “I’ll make sure I’m never late again.”
Despite the early setback, Linde had an outstanding performance in the match. He scored 48 runs off 24 balls and took 4 wickets for 21 runs, earning the Player of the Match award for his all-round performance.
