Saudi Footballer Reveals Cristiano Ronaldo’s Interest in Embracing Islam
Islamabad (Qudrat Daily)In a recent television interview, former Saudi footballer Walid Abdullah, who was the goalkeeper for Al Nassr FC and a teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo, revealed that the football superstar has shown a deep interest in converting to Islam.
Abdullah shared that Ronaldo is intrigued by Islamic teachings and Saudi culture, and he has expressed a genuine desire to embrace Islam. “I have spoken to him about it, and he has shown interest,” said Walid. He further explained that during his time at Al Nassr, Ronaldo not only scored goals but also performed sujood (prostration) on the field, and encouraged his fellow players to observe prayers and follow Islamic traditions.
Walid Abdullah also highlighted that whenever the call to prayer (adhan) was heard during training sessions, Ronaldo would ask the coach to pause the training so that his teammates could offer their prayers. He recalled an incident in May 2023, when Ronaldo scored a goal for Al Nassr and performed sujood on the field, after which all the players collectively shouted “Allahu Akbar.”
While Abdullah acknowledged that whether Ronaldo officially embraces Islam or not, his discipline and hard work have propelled him to the pinnacle of success. He further emphasized that anyone who comes to Saudi Arabia is deeply impressed by Ronaldo’s character.
It’s worth mentioning that in January 2023, Ronaldo signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, which includes a staggering $213 million payment.
