Omar Ayub: “We Didn’t Go to Islamabad to Conquer a Fortress”
Peshawar: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Omar Ayub clarified that their purpose in going to Islamabad was not to “conquer a fortress,” as some have suggested. In a media interaction in Peshawar, Ayub addressed several issues related to the Islamabad protest, including missing security personnel and a stolen vehicle.
Omar Ayub explained that during the Islamabad protest, four of his security personnel went missing, but they returned the following day. He added that his vehicle, which contained one lakh rupees, is still missing. “I urge the agencies to keep the money, but please return my vehicle,” he said.
Ayub emphasized that the PTI workers were not armed and had no intention of engaging in violence. “We went to Islamabad for a peaceful protest, but we were fired upon. This led to our workers retreating from the scene,” he explained.
He also accused the Rangers of unlawfully entering Khyber Pakhtunkhwa without any invitation. “They intended to attack the Chief Minister. There should be an inquiry into this, and the individuals responsible for this violation should face a court martial,” he added. Ayub stated that he would file a case against Shahbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, the IG Punjab, and the DPO Attock.
Furthermore, Omar Ayub called for permission to allow PTI’s leader, Imran Khan, to meet with his family members. “We should be allowed to meet with the founding member of PTI and his family,” he insisted.
He concluded by reiterating that PTI’s struggle would continue until Imran Khan is released, stating, “We will keep fighting, whether in the streets or in the assemblies.” When asked about potential negotiations, Ayub remarked that he was not aware of any discussions, adding that the Chief Minister could answer that question.
