CM Balochistan Orders Merit-Based Appointments in Health Department, Vows Action Against Corruption

Quetta:Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti has directed the health department to complete the process of merit-based appointments, warning that any violations of merit during recruitment will result in strict action. He emphasized that resolving issues in health and education would address 80 percent of the public’s problems in the province.

The Chief Minister made these remarks during a review meeting on the performance of the health department, which was attended by Provincial Minister for Health, Bakht Mohammad Kakar, Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakil Qadir Khan, Secretary Health Mujib-ur-Rehman, and Director General of Health Services Balochistan Dr. Amin Khan Mandokhel.

Addressing the meeting, CM Bugti highlighted that there are approximately 250,000 “government bureaucrats” employed in Balochistan, but the service delivery system remains unsatisfactory. He stressed that resources allocated for the health sector must directly benefit the common people and that any mafia obstructing reforms would face severe action.

“The health sector’s resources should reach the people who need them the most,” Bugti stated. “We will not tolerate any corruption or unfair practices in recruitment. Action will be taken against those who recruit outside the merit system.”

Bugti also acknowledged concerns regarding reforms, inviting those with reservations to come forward and discuss them. However, he made it clear that any attempts to block public welfare efforts under the guise of protests would not be tolerated. “The door for dialogue remains open. If anyone has issues with the reforms, they should come and talk. But obstructing public interest matters under the pretext of protests will not be accepted,” he said.

The Chief Minister’s comments reflect his government’s commitment to improving public service delivery, especially in critical sectors like health and education, and his resolve to eliminate corruption and inefficiency from the system. As Balochistan continues to face challenges in these sectors, the provincial government’s actions in the coming months will be closely watched for any significant improvements.
