Barrister Ali Saif Slams Ata Tarar’s Press Conference as ‘New Example of Yazidism
Islamabad:Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif, the spokesperson for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, has condemned the press conference held by Ata Tarar, calling it a “new example of Yazidism” in the wake of the recent violent crackdown on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters. Saif’s statement came in response to the government’s handling of PTI’s protest in Islamabad, which he described as an act of injustice and oppression.
In a statement regarding the PTI protest, Barrister Saif accused the “fake and oppressive” government of committing yet another atrocity, comparing the incident to the infamous Model Town tragedy. He called the violence at D-Chowk a “badge of dishonor” for the government. “This was a brutal act of violence. When history is written, even the pen will tremble to recount the scale of injustice,” Saif said. He also claimed that such actions were carried out by “fearful” people, pointing to the use of gunfire against unarmed protesters as evidence of the government’s fear.
**”PTI Endured the Oppression and Triumphed”**
Saif further stated that despite the violence, PTI had “endured the oppression” and emerged victorious, while accusing the government of showing no remorse. He alleged that the government targeted young PTI workers, especially those aged 18 to 20, by shooting them in the head.
While the country mourned the loss of innocent lives, Saif said, the government appeared to be celebrating. “Instead of mourning, this fake government is celebrating. You cannot erase Imran Khan from the hearts of the people through violence and oppression,” he added.
**Call for Parliamentary Action**
Barrister Saif called on PTI to immediately convene both the National Assembly and Senate sessions to address the situation and take appropriate action. He also announced that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly would be convening to discuss the crisis and form a unified response.
Saif’s remarks reflect the heightened political tensions in the country, with PTI accusing the government of using force to suppress peaceful protests and stifle political dissent. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has expressed solidarity with PTI’s stance, calling for a comprehensive investigation into the violence and for justice to be served to the victims of the crackdown.
