KP CM Announces “Release Force” for Imran Khan

Islamabad: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced the formation of a force to secure the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Speaking to the media outside the Supreme Court, Afridi said he had been entrusted by Imran Khan with leading a street movement. He criticized the handling of judicial orders, saying they are “thrown in the trash” and that Khan has been denied access to his personal doctors.
Afridi declared the creation of the “PTI Release Force,” which he said will operate peacefully. Registration for the force will begin soon, and members will take an oath in Peshawar on February 22, immediately after Eid. The force will follow a chain of command, with Khan appointing its leaders.
He emphasized that preparations will be made first, followed by action, describing the struggle as one for democracy, the supremacy of the Constitution, and the freedom of the media.
Responding to a question, Afridi warned those within PTI seeking to remove him, saying that “honor and disgrace are given by Allah,” and suggested that inquiries about attempts to remove him should be directed to Imran Khan’s sisters.
