Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Assures Islamabad Residents of Return to Normalcy Amid Ongoing Tensions
Islamabad:Federal Minister for Interior, Mohsin Naqvi, addressed the ongoing unrest in Islamabad and assured residents that the situation would soon return to normal. Speaking to the media at D-Chowk, Naqvi acknowledged that the city’s residents had faced inconvenience due to road closures and security operations, but emphasized that all blocked roads would be reopened immediately, and that schools would resume operations from the next day. He also confirmed that mobile phone services, which had been temporarily suspended, would be restored shortly.
Naqvi also condemned the recent attacks on media houses during the protests, stating that law enforcement agencies would review CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators. “Media houses were attacked, and where damage was caused, we will track down the responsible individuals using CCTV evidence,” he said, adding, “These kinds of actions, which have caused billions of rupees in losses, cannot continue. How many more times are we supposed to tolerate this?”
In his remarks, the Interior Minister also addressed the ongoing efforts to apprehend PTI leaders, including Ali Amin Gandapur and Bushra Bibi, who remain on the run. “I am not aware of any recent meeting between Ali Amin Gandapur and PTI’s founding members, but as of now, both Gandapur and Bushra Bibi are still at large,” Naqvi stated. He revealed that the government had previously suggested holding a rally in Sangjani, to which Gandapur had initially agreed, but later insisted on heading to D-Chowk instead, defying the party’s internal decision to avoid further escalation.
Naqvi also took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the police and Rangers for their efforts in controlling the situation in Islamabad. “I want to thank the police and Rangers for their swift response in managing the situation and bringing stability to the capital,” he concluded.
As Islamabad begins to recover from the protests and violent clashes, the government’s priority remains the restoration of peace and security while ensuring the smooth resumption of daily activities for the city’s residents.
