Differences Emerge Within Trump Administration Over Future Strategy Against Iran

WASHINGTON: Differences have emerged within the Trump administration over the future course of action against Iran, with senior officials reportedly divided over whether to continue military operations or pursue a diplomatic solution.

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, discussions have begun within the Trump administration about ending military action against Iran.

The report said US Vice President JD Vance has reportedly disagreed with President Donald Trump’s policy on the Iran war, blaming the conflict for the Republicans’ electoral defeat.

According to the newspaper, some officials within the US administration favour a diplomatic solution to the Iran issue, while others have proposed intensifying military strikes against Tehran.

The disagreements highlight growing divisions within the American leadership over the next phase of its Iran policy.

The report further noted that rising energy prices resulting from the Iran war have increased electoral challenges for the Republicans, adding to political pressure on the administration.

President Donald Trump remains in favour of continuing military operations against Iran, despite differences among senior administration officials.

Following the Democrats’ electoral success, the Trump administration is reportedly facing mounting political pressure over its handling of the Iran conflict and the economic consequences of the war.
