All Iranian Trade Corridors Linked to Taftan Should Be Opened for Small Traders; Ban on Transportation of Food Items Should Be Lifted: Bus Transport Union

QUETTA (Daily Qudrat): Chairman of the Taftan Bus Transport Union Mahmood Khan Badini has demanded that all Iranian border routes linked to Taftan and Mashkhel be fully restored for all small traders and that the ban imposed on the transportation of food items on National Highway N-40 be lifted.
In his statement, Mahmood Khan Badini said that the closure of Iranian borders linked to Taftan and Mashkhel and the ban on the transportation of food items on N-40 for a long time have affected the livelihood of millions of people. These include transporters on the Taftan route and small traders, while their families are also suffering severe economic difficulties.
He said that restoring border trade and opening all trade corridors linked to the Iranian borders of Taftan and Rakhshan, like the Abdowi and Makran border routes, is the need of the hour. This will promote business activity in the area, increase employment opportunities and help in economic stability.
Mahmood Khan Badini said that effective reforms should be introduced to protect the rights of the poor and working class in border trade. A fair, transparent and accountable system should be devised to free border trade from the dominance of specific administrative groups and the alleged border mafia, so that corruption can be curbed, law and order improved and the local population ensured the maximum benefit from business activities.
He said that restoring border trade and establishing a fair system can strengthen trust between the people and the state. An increase in economic activity will reduce unemployment and deprivation, whose positive effects can also be felt on the law and order situation.
He stressed that for political, economic and social stability, all positive economic activities, including border trade, should be encouraged and practical steps taken to provide dignified employment opportunities to the people, so that development, justice and lasting peace can be promoted.
