PTI Will Have to Decide: If It Wants Revolution, It Cannot Sit in Parliament — Fawad Chaudhry

ISLAMABAD (Daily Qudrat): Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry has said that the PTI will have to decide that if it wants to bring a revolution, it cannot sit in parliament. On the 30-day extension of the detention of Imran Khan’s family, the leadership of PTI and the Movement for the Protection of the Constitution said nothing beyond baring their teeth. He expressed the hope that the PTI would realise the damage Imran Khan is suffering from having installed “these Buzdars.”

Speaking on a podcast, he said he believes the PTI should decide whether it wants to bring a revolution or take political space. If it wants a revolution, it cannot sit in parliament, nor play committee-committee, but must go outside and mobilise people — and then others will also go to jail.

He said those opportunities were wasted when the party should have been on the streets. Now, being in parliament, it must take political space — but the Prime Minister is calling it and it says he is a “Form 47” Prime Minister, yet while calling him a Form 47 PM it accepted the notification for the opposition leader. He said it cannot be “sweet-sweet hip and bitter-bitter spit” — then it should negotiate.

In a tweet, Fawad Chaudhry said the PTI’s parliamentary and political leadership changed 48 statements in 24 hours. He said the situation is that on the 30-day extension of the detention of Imran Khan’s entire family, the leadership of PTI and the Movement for the Protection of the Constitution said nothing beyond baring their teeth, while calling clinging to positions “politics.” He expressed the hope that Imran Khan would realise that installing incompetent people only causes harm.

Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court dismissed a petition filed for the recovery of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sisters, Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi. Justice Abhar Gul Khan heard the petition for the recovery of the former Prime Minister’s sisters, in connection with which the Secretary Interior Punjab and the Superintendent of Kot Lakhpat Jail appeared in court, while Uzma Khan’s husband and Aleema Khan’s son also appeared.

The government lawyer told the court that the detention of all three sisters had been extended by 30 days, and that detention had also been extended on 7 October. The petitioners’ counsel requested that the three sisters be recovered and produced in court. The court remarked that the detention notification had been issued by the Deputy Commissioner, but the Deputy Commissioner had not been made a party in the petition. The court said the petitioners should know that the court cannot issue any order going beyond the petition. The Lahore High Court dismissed the petition in light of the Secretary Interior’s report.
