Jhang DC Removed Over Alleged Misuse of PARA Force Vehicle; Questions Raised Over Politicians’ Accountability

JHANG:A debate has emerged over the accountability of elected representatives following the removal of Jhang Deputy Commissioner after the alleged misuse of an official PARA Force vehicle in a rally linked to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s administration.

According to details, the action has sparked questions about whether accountability should extend beyond civil servants to political figures who allegedly use government vehicles and security personnel for personal or political protocol.

Prominent anchorperson Rai Saqib Kharal reacted to the development in a post on social media platform X, criticising the provincial administration’s response and raising concerns about the conduct of elected representatives.

Kharal questioned why the deputy commissioner was immediately removed after a PARA Force vehicle was reportedly seen accompanying Saqib Chadhar’s protocol, while Chadhar himself was not asked under what authority he was receiving an official security escort.

Commenting on the broader situation in Punjab, Kharal alleged that police vehicles routinely accompany elected members of provincial and national assemblies as part of their protocol, creating the impression that security resources are disproportionately allocated to politicians rather than the general public.

The incident has intensified debate in journalistic circles over the use of state resources by political figures and public officials.

Observers have argued that removing administrative officers alone may not be sufficient to address the issue if elected representatives who benefit from the alleged misuse of government vehicles and security arrangements are not also held accountable.

Calls have also emerged for the Punjab government to adopt a uniform and impartial policy governing the use of official vehicles, security personnel and other public resources, ensuring that accountability applies equally to civil servants and political representatives.

The allegations and criticism have renewed discussion about transparency, the appropriate use of government resources and the need for consistent accountability across Punjab’s administrative and political structures.
