Balochistan Adviser Mina Majeed Criticises Fazlur Rehman over Remarks on State Institutions

QUETTA:Balochistan Adviser on Sports and Youth Affairs Mina Majeed has criticised Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman over his remarks concerning state institutions, accusing him of adopting a double standard in politics and opposing institutions when his political interests are not fulfilled.

In a statement, Majeed said that institutions appeared acceptable to Fazlur Rehman as long as he and his relatives continued to receive positions and his political demands were accommodated.

“However, when positions such as the governorship in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are not offered, he takes offence and begins confrontation with the state and national security institutions,” she said, questioning what kind of principles and politics this represented.

Majeed said the nation remembered the era of former president General Pervez Musharraf, when, according to her, Fazlur Rehman was part of the corridors of power and a participant in political and administrative arrangements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

She alleged that his silence at the time reflected political expediency in pursuit of personal interests, while his current criticism of institutions was aimed at securing political positions and influence.

The adviser said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had endured prolonged challenges and were now looking for peace, relief and development rather than what she described as a struggle for personal and family interests.

Majeed said Fazlur Rehman deserved respect, but maintained that such respect depended on his respect for Pakistan, the Constitution and state institutions.

She warned that attempts to undermine or make national security institutions controversial would face opposition across the country.

Urging the JUI-F chief to move beyond what she described as his pursuit of personal ambitions and political positions, Majeed called on him to play a constructive role in restoring peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and strengthening national stability.

“**The state and the Constitution are paramount, not political expediency,**” she said.
