Federal Cabinet Considers Giving KP Government Another Chance to Cooperate Against Terrorism

ISLAMABAD:A proposal has emerged within the federal cabinet to give the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government another opportunity to play an effective role in the fight against terrorism, according to sources.

Sources said members of the federal cabinet had suggested to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif that the provincial government be given another chance to cooperate with the Centre in addressing the security challenges facing the province.

### Maulana Fazlur Rehman May Be Asked to Facilitate Talks

According to sources, a proposal was also discussed to assign Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman the task of holding talks with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.

The proposed initiative aims to persuade the provincial administration to work alongside the federal government in the fight against terrorism and take effective measures to improve the security situation.

Sources said the federal government could reconsider its reported decision regarding the province if the KP government agreed to cooperate with the Centre and take meaningful steps against terrorism.

The proposal comes amid ongoing consultations at the federal level over law and order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and a reported increase in terrorist incidents.

The suggestions remain subject to further deliberation, and no official confirmation of a final decision has been provided in the report.
