KP Police Install Protective Nets at Sensitive Sites to Counter Drone Threat

PESHAWAR:In response to the growing threat of drone attacks, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have begun installing protective nets at sensitive police stations and check posts across the province.
The low-cost protective measure, reportedly used during the Russia-Ukraine war, is aimed at reducing the impact of explosive payloads dropped from drones.
Police authorities have started installing the nets at sensitive installations in various parts of the terrorism-affected province following the emergence of drone attacks as a changing method of attack.
According to police officials, protective nets have so far been installed at **31 sensitive police installations in Peshawar**, covering approximately **2,081 metres**. More nets will be installed at other locations if required.
The nets are designed to catch or slow down payloads dropped by drones, reducing the likelihood of the explosives directly striking the ground and causing severe damage to personnel and infrastructure.
In addition to the protective nets, **anti-drone guns and counter-drone systems** have also been deployed at divisional headquarters and Safe City facilities at sensitive locations.
Police officials said the effectiveness of the nets was tested by dropping heavy objects onto them before they were installed at sensitive police installations.
The initiative is part of broader security measures being adopted by KP police to protect personnel and critical installations against emerging drone-related threats.
