Punjab Extends Section 144 Restrictions for Seven More Days

LAHORE:The Government of Punjab has **extended the enforcement of Section 144 for another seven days**, maintaining a ban on all forms of public gatherings and demonstrations across the province.
According to a **notification issued by the Punjab Home Department**, all kinds of **protests, rallies, sit-ins, processions, and public assemblies** will remain prohibited until **November 15, 2025**.
The order also restricts **gatherings of four or more people in public places**, **display of weapons**, **use of loudspeakers**, and the **publication or distribution of inflammatory, hate-based, or sectarian material**.
However, the notification clarifies that the restrictions **do not apply to weddings, funeral prayers, or burial ceremonies**.
Officials performing **government duties**, law enforcement personnel, and **courts** are also **exempt** from the ban.
Additionally, the **use of loudspeakers** will be permitted **only for the call to prayer (Azaan) and Friday sermons**.
