Peshawar High Court Denies Interim Relief in Long March Petition

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court has refused to grant interim relief in a petition concerning the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march, observing that relief could not be granted without hearing all parties.

During the hearing, Justice Sahibzada Asadullah said the court could not provide interim relief without hearing the respondents.

The lawyer representing PTI members of the National Assembly requested the court to allow the long march to pass through the constituencies of the petitioners, saying they would welcome the march in accordance with the law.

The PTI lawmakers’ counsel also urged the court to ensure that no obstacles were placed in the way of the long march, arguing that there was no room for delay as the march was already underway.

Meanwhile, Additional Attorney General told the court that the petition was not maintainable, pointing out that the Islamabad High Court had already issued an order concerning the long march.

The Additional Attorney General requested the court to adjourn the matter until the following day, saying he was not prepared to argue the case at that time.

The court subsequently adjourned the hearing until tomorrow.
