Karachi Police Officer Suspended After Video of Assault on Intoxicated Woman Goes Viral

Karachi: A police officer posted at **Darakhshan Police Station** was suspended after a video showing him allegedly **assaulting and mistreating an intoxicated woman** in Defence went viral on social media.

According to police sources, the incident took place on **Sunday night** in **Defence Phase 6, Saba Avenue**, where the woman, reportedly under the influence, was creating a disturbance. Residents informed the police, after which Darakhshan officers reached the scene.

The woman, allegedly inebriated, was said to have been **blocking passersby and misbehaving**. While being escorted to the station, she also engaged in a scuffle with a female police officer. During this process, a male officer, identified as **Naeem**, was seen in the viral video **manhandling and assaulting her**.

Following the public backlash, **SSP South Mahzar Ali** took notice and immediately suspended the officer.

The woman was initially taken to Darakhshan Police Station and later transferred to the **Women’s Police Station**. On Monday, she was sent to a hospital for a **medical examination**.
