“Don’t Be Bahadur Shah Zafar; Make Yourself Tipu Sultan,” Sohail Afridi Tells PTI Leaders

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi reportedly adopted a firm stance during a meeting of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Core Committee and Political Committee, urging party members not to compromise on the ideology of party founder Imran Khan.
According to a report by journalist Muhammad Faheem, some participants suggested pursuing reconciliation and avoiding bloodshed or confrontation during the meeting.
Responding to these proposals, Afridi reportedly said, “Don’t be Bahadur Shah Zafar; make yourself Tipu Sultan. Don’t become the establishment’s puppets; fully follow the ideology and principles of PTI founder Imran Khan.”

Sources said the meeting subsequently discussed proposals to prevent bloodshed and any untoward confrontation. Afridi eventually agreed with a cautious suggestion from one participant to stage a large-scale show of political strength in Swabi to ensure the safety of party workers and their property.
In a separate statement posted on social media, Afridi said PTI was Pakistan’s largest and most popular political party, adding that the Constitution guaranteed every citizen the fundamental right to peaceful protest.
He reiterated that a public march would begin from Gandi Chowk in Lakki Marwat at 1pm on October 4 and continue until the supremacy of the Constitution and law and the restoration of an independent judiciary were achieved.
ہم پاکستان کی سب سے بڑی اور سب سے مقبول سیاسی جماعت ہیں۔ پاکستان ایک جمہوری ملک ہے، جس کا آئین ہمیں پُرامن احتجاج کا حق دیتا ہے۔

Discussing the prospects for negotiations, Afridi maintained that PTI’s demands were entirely constitutional and legal. However, he alleged that party founder Imran Khan, his family members and PTI workers were being deprived of their legitimate legal rights.
He further claimed that those clinging to power feared the people of Pakistan and were creating instability in the country to protect their positions.
