Balochistan Is Bleeding, While Officials Are Busy in ‘Loot Distribution’: Senator Maulana Abdul Wasay

QUETTA – The provincial cabinet and parliamentary members of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Balochistan held a joint meeting under the chairmanship of Provincial Ameer Senator Maulana Abdul Wasay at the provincial secretariat in Jinnah Town, Quetta, to review the alarming and critical situation in the province.

Deep Concern Over Bloodshed and Insecurity

The meeting expressed profound sorrow over the deteriorating law and order situation, continuous loss of lives, public hardships, economic devastation, and irreparable damage to infrastructure. The participants offered prayers for the martyrs of security forces, law enforcement agencies, and innocent civilians who have lost their lives in terrorism and unrest.

Call to Rise Above Personal Interests

The JUI leadership declared that in the current grave situation, they are ready to set aside all political considerations and party reservations to support any serious, constitutional, and positive measures necessary to rescue Balochistan from the ongoing crisis and restore peace.

“Balochistan cannot afford any more chaos, conflict, instability, or destruction,” the meeting stressed. “All political forces, state institutions, and government officials must rise above personal, group, and party interests and prioritize the future of the province and the protection of its people.”

Infrastructure Destruction and Economic Collapse

The meeting expressed concern over the closure of business activities, shrinking employment opportunities, and deteriorating basic facilities across various districts. It noted that continuous instability has severely affected trade, agriculture, and daily life, while recent incidents have caused large-scale damage to national highways, bridges, roads, and other critical public infrastructure.

Participants demanded immediate emergency measures to restore destroyed infrastructure to prevent further devastation.

Criticism of Government’s Priorities

The meeting strongly criticized the government’s focus on distributing benefits and government jobs among themselves while the province bleeds. “On one hand, Balochistan is experiencing bloodshed, insecurity, and fear—people are worried for their lives and property, and infrastructure is being destroyed. On the other hand, government officials are busy in mutual conflicts, blame games, and distributing benefits,” the statement said.

The JUI demanded a transparent, impartial, and credible inquiry into allegations regarding government appointments and privileges so that facts can be brought before the public and any corruption or misuse of authority can be prevented.

Concern Over Provincial Assembly’s Performance

The meeting expressed dismay that while Balochistan is passing through one of the most critical periods in its history, the provincial assembly is prioritizing secondary and unnecessary matters instead of serious discussions on peace, economic crisis, public safety, infrastructure, employment, education, and health.

Condemnation of Inflammatory Statements

The JUI expressed serious concern over statements and actions harming inter-provincial harmony and national unity. Strongly condemning recent irresponsible remarks by a person holding a responsible position that fueled inter-provincial tensions and hatred, the meeting demanded immediate and effective measures to curb such behavior. Brotherhood, mutual respect, and national unity must be maintained at all costs among all provinces, it emphasized.

Organizational Decisions

The meeting also reviewed organizational matters and decisions of the central leadership, forming various committees to ensure implementation of instructions. It was decided to strengthen party discipline and make organizational activities more effective at provincial and district levels.

The JUI Balochistan reaffirmed its resolve to continue its political, democratic, and constitutional struggle for the protection of people’s lives and property, establishment of peace, supremacy of the constitution and democracy, protection of provincial rights, and to pull Balochistan out of the current crisis.
