Sharjeel Memon Urges PML-N Not to Make Sindh a ‘Scapegoat’ Over New Provinces

KARACHI:Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon has responded to a statement by PML-N senior leader and Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, urging the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to satisfy its coalition partners but refrain from making Sindh a “scapegoat.”
Responding to Khawaja Asif, Sharjeel Memon said the Punjab Assembly had twice passed resolutions in support of a separate Saraiki province.
In contrast, he said, the Sindh Assembly had passed resolutions eight times against the creation of further provinces within Sindh.
“PML-N should satisfy its coalition partners, but it should avoid making Sindh a scapegoat,” Sharjeel Memon said.
Khawaja Asif had earlier said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) supported the creation of a Saraiki province in Punjab, but when the issue of administrative units arose, it started talking about “Sindhu Desh.”
He said the PPP’s “double standards” would be explained when the time came.
