How Much Salary Is Needed to Buy a Car Through Bank Financing? New Financing Conditions

KARACHI: Bank financing remains an important option for people looking to purchase a car, but many prospective buyers want to know how much monthly income is required to qualify. In 2026, minimum income requirements vary from bank to bank, while lenders also consider factors such as age, employment history, bank statements, existing loans and credit history.
Applications Possible With Rs35,000 Salary
According to HBL’s current CarLoan information, applicants can apply with a minimum monthly income of Rs35,000. However, meeting the minimum income requirement does not guarantee approval, as the bank also evaluates the applicant’s overall financial position and other eligibility criteria.
The financing amount, tenure, down payment and other conditions depend on the vehicle being purchased and the applicant’s financial profile.
Rs40,000 Salary Requirement
Allied Bank’s current Car Finance facility requires salaried applicants to have a minimum net monthly salary of Rs40,000.
According to the bank’s conditions, applicants must be at least 21 years old, while the maximum age for salaried individuals is 59. Applicants must also have permanent employment and at least two years of employment history.
Self-Employed Applicants Need Rs60,000 Income
For business owners and self-employed individuals, Allied Bank requires a minimum net monthly income of Rs60,000.
Such applicants must also have at least two years of business experience, while the maximum age is 64 years.
Why Is a Bank Statement Required?
Providing a salary figure alone is not sufficient when applying for car financing. Banks may require documents to verify income and assess the applicant’s ability to make monthly payments.
Under Allied Bank’s current requirements, applicants may be asked to provide six months of bank statements, proof of income, a CNIC and other necessary documents.
These documents help the bank determine whether the applicant has a regular income and can comfortably afford the monthly instalments.
Does a Rs100,000 Salary Mean You Can Buy an Expensive Car?
Not necessarily. A higher salary does not automatically qualify a person for financing a more expensive vehicle.
Banks generally consider the applicant’s income along with existing loans, credit history, down payment, vehicle price and proposed monthly instalment.
For example, a person earning Rs100,000 a month but already paying substantial loan instalments may have a lower capacity to obtain financing for a new vehicle.
How Much of Your Income Can Go Toward Instalments?
Banks also assess the applicant’s overall monthly financial obligations, including the proposed car instalment, in relation to their income.
Meezan Bank’s Car Ijarah information also takes income-to-payment ratios into consideration. In general, lenders seek to keep a customer’s overall financial obligations within an acceptable limit.
Therefore, before applying for car financing, applicants should calculate their net monthly income, existing instalments and the expected payment for the new vehicle.
Down Payment Is Also Important
Meeting the income requirement is only one part of the process. The down payment is another major consideration.
According to Allied Bank’s current Car Finance information, financing can cover up to 70% of the vehicle’s value, meaning that in some cases the buyer may have to pay around 30% from their own funds.
Registration, insurance, tracker and other related expenses may also have to be paid separately.
Islamic Car Financing Options
Consumers who prefer Islamic banking also have options for acquiring a vehicle. Meezan Bank offers Car Ijarah, while HBL and other banks provide various Islamic vehicle-financing products.
Down payments, financing periods, monthly payments and eligibility requirements may vary between products.
What to Calculate Before Financing a Car in 2026
Experts advise prospective buyers to consider their complete budget rather than looking only at their salary.
Before taking car financing, consumers should ask:
What is my net monthly income?
How much am I already paying in loan instalments?
How much money can I provide as a down payment?
What will the new monthly instalment be?
What will be the total financing period?
How much will I pay the bank over the entire financing period?
How much will insurance, registration and other expenses cost?
Rs35,000, Rs40,000 or Rs60,000 — What Is the Real Difference?
Current bank requirements show that an individual earning Rs35,000 per month may be able to apply for certain financing products, while a Rs40,000 income may meet the minimum requirement for some other banks. Self-employed applicants may need an income of Rs60,000 or more.
However, meeting the minimum income requirement is only an initial eligibility condition. Final approval depends on the bank’s credit assessment, income, banking record, age, existing liabilities, down payment and the price of the vehicle.
In other words, the most important consideration for a prospective car buyer is to choose a vehicle and monthly instalment that can be comfortably paid throughout the entire financing period.
