If My Remarks Hurt Anyone, I Apologize: Mir Sadiq Umrani

QUETTA: Balochistan Provincial Minister Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani has apologized if any of his remarks during the provincial assembly session hurt anyone, saying he has never been against the ideology of Pakistan.

Addressing the Balochistan Assembly, Sadiq Umrani said everyone had taken an oath to speak the truth, but some of the remarks made in the house had been presented by the media in a misleading manner.

“We have always spoken about the development of Balochistan and have never been against the ideology of Pakistan,” he said.

He added that he had repeatedly presented proposals on every forum for eliminating terrorism from the province and maintained that he respected all personalities.

Sadiq Umrani, however, maintained that the resolution passed against him two days earlier was unlawful. He said that if it was proven to have been passed in violation of the law, it should be withdrawn.

Following Sadiq Umrani’s clarification, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said the provincial minister was a respected member of the house.

Bugti said that whatever happened in the assembly over the previous two days was not appropriate and urged all sides to move forward by putting the controversy behind them.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly ruled that no action had been taken outside the law.

At the conclusion of the proceedings, the Balochistan Assembly session was adjourned until 3:00 pm on September 29.
