KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur: Talks with Government Will Begin After Imran Khan's Release** **Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Rejects Negotiations Amid Protests, Vows to Enforce Section 144 in Islamabad
Islamabad:Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has stated that talks with the government will only begin after the release of PTI Chairman Imran Khan. He added that, at present, there is no ongoing dialogue between his party and the government. Speaking to a private TV channel, Gandapur confirmed that the PTI’s planned protest on November 24 would go ahead as scheduled, and party supporters would gather in Islamabad despite government opposition.
On the other hand, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi firmly rejected any negotiations with PTI under threat of protest. In a media interaction outside the Islamabad High Court, Naqvi stated, “Negotiations cannot happen under threats. Currently, there is no communication with Imran Khan.” He emphasized that anyone wishing to hold protests in Islamabad must do so with proper authorization, as the government will not allow unapproved rallies.
Naqvi further remarked that while he personally supports dialogue, it cannot be conducted through coercion or threats. He raised concerns over the timing of PTI’s protests, questioning why the party chose to protest at a time when the President of Belarus is scheduled to visit Pakistan.
The interior minister also expressed doubts about the composition of PTI’s rallies, claiming that a significant number of Afghan nationals are often involved in these protests, raising security concerns.
When asked about his communication with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s government, Naqvi confirmed that he stays in regular contact with the Chief Secretary and IG of the province, as they hold key administrative positions. He also noted that provincial ministers Ali Amin Gandapur and Barrister Gohar had met Imran Khan in jail, and if they wish to initiate talks, they should make their intentions clear. However, Naqvi reiterated that these discussions cannot be based on threats.
Regarding the PTI’s planned protest in Islamabad, Naqvi emphasized that the government would not allow anyone to enter D-Chowk, citing the imposition of Section 144 in the capital. He made it clear that any individual attempting to protest in Islamabad without authorization would face arrest, as the government’s primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and security of the citizens of the capital.
