Light Rain Hits Karachi; Heavy Showers Forecast for Sindh and Punjab

Karachi: Several parts of Karachi received **light rain early Sunday morning**, including Saddar, I.I. Chundrigar Road, and Shahrah-e-Faisal. Light showers were also reported in Defence, Qayyumabad, Korangi Road, Burns Road, M.A. Jinnah Road, University Road, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Mehmoodabad, Manzoor Colony, and Baloch Colony. Rainwater has already started to accumulate in low-lying areas.
The **Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD)** has forecast **heavy rainfall with thunderstorms over the next two days** in Karachi, warning that downpours could submerge low-lying neighborhoods.
Meanwhile, a **strong monsoon spell** is also lashing other parts of Sindh. Heavy rainfall was reported in Hyderabad, Sujawal, Thatta, Sukkur, Ubauro, Daharki, Mirpur Mathelo, and Naushahro Feroze. The PMD predicts more **widespread heavy showers until September 10** in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Khairpur, and Shaheed Benazirabad.
In Punjab, the next **24 hours could bring more rainfall** in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Gujrat. Heavy showers are also expected in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rajanpur, Khanpur, Muzaffargarh, and Dera Ghazi Khan.
The **Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA)** has issued warnings of **urban flooding in major cities**, adding that the situation could worsen in flood-affected areas of Punjab if rains persist.
