Every Attempt to Break Imran Khan Has Failed, He Still Stands Like a Rock: Sohail Afridi

Karachi — Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has said every attempt to break Imran Khan has failed and that the PTI founder still stands firm like a rock.

Addressing a Street Movement rally in Shahdadkot, Afridi said Imran Khan was looking to the people of Pakistan, not to rulers or powerful groups, and that his struggle was for the country’s freedom and the future of coming generations rather than for personal power.

He claimed Imran Khan was imprisoned without justification, his wife had been jailed and his sisters had faced what he called fascist state oppression. PTI workers, women, elders and children, he said, were also facing severe reprisals.

According to Afridi, the 26th and 27th constitutional amendments had paralysed state institutions, especially the judiciary. Courts had allowed family members and personal doctors to meet and treat Imran Khan, but “imposed rulers” had discarded those orders. Contempt of judicial verdicts, he added, showed they did not care for the constitution, the law or the courts.

Afridi said Imran Khan made him chief minister, but the heirs of dynastic politics did not want an ordinary person to rise. Corrupt political families, sardars, waderas and the elite, he claimed, would never want common people to be empowered and were looting public rights and national resources.

He said people of interior Sindh stood with Imran Khan and that Shahdadkot had disproved the long-standing claim that only one party held sway there. Asking the crowd whether they wanted to save their future, he said corrupt rulers bought properties and islands abroad with public money and that citizens themselves must stand up to protect the country’s rights, resources and future.

“I belong to the middle class. Imran Khan made me chief minister. Anyone among you can become chief minister in this country,” he said.
