Former Governor Criticises Pakistan’s Lavish Lifestyle, Highlights British High Commissioner’s Simplicity
ISLAMABAD: Former Sindh governor Muhammad Zubair has criticised the lavish lifestyles and extravagant spending of Pakistan’s rulers, contrasting them with the modest conduct of officials from wealthier countries.
Speaking about the difference between the lifestyles of leaders in rich and poor nations, Zubair said the British High Commissioner to Pakistan arrived at a dinner in London by taxi, while Pakistan’s unelected rulers reached the same event in expensive luxury vehicles.
He noted that Pakistan is a poor and developing Third World country, whereas Britain is a wealthy and developed First World nation.
A dinner was recently hosted at Pakistan House in London in honour of the Pakistan cricket team. The event was attended by national team players, team management, senior officials and prominent members of the Pakistani community in the United Kingdom.

Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, Dr Muhammad Faisal, hosted the dinner, while Interior Minister and Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi was the chief guest. British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott also attended the event.
The ceremony included meetings and photo sessions with the players. Members of the Pakistani community warmly welcomed the national team and expressed their best wishes for its upcoming matches.
Addressing the gathering, Mohsin Naqvi encouraged the players, saying the entire nation was looking towards the team. He urged them to ignore pressure and demonstrate their best performance on the field.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan also attended the event and met the Pakistani players. He praised captain Babar Azam and the national team’s fast bowlers, extending his best wishes to the team for its future matches.
