Mehrgarh Is National and Historical Heritage, Not Anyone’s Private Home: Nawab Raisani
QUETTA: Nawab Aslam Raisani has expressed concern over what he described as a recent drone attack on Mehrgarh, calling the incident highly alarming and condemnable.
In a statement posted on X, Raisani said Mehrgarh was a historic heritage site as well as a center of tribal unity and peace. He alleged that the site had repeatedly been targeted by the state and said the reported drone attack was deeply concerning.
He said the incident reinforced concerns that the use of force in Balochistan was being intensified and that efforts were continuing to restrict peaceful political and democratic struggle.
“Mehrgarh is not the home of any one individual but a national, historical and tribal center,” Raisani said, adding that such incidents could further deepen feelings of deprivation and resentment among the people.
He said those responsible for state affairs should understand that history would never forget the desecration of national heritage and people’s homes.
Raisani said they would continue their peaceful and political struggle to protect their national and tribal rights. He warned that incidents involving the use of force could further complicate the situation in Balochistan, a land with a long and significant history.
He called for efforts to prioritize peace, political dialogue and improvement of the situation in Balochistan rather than escalating tensions.
Raisani also urged the state to give preference to negotiations and political solutions instead of the use of force.
