“Imran Khan has great respect around the world. We, our families and our fellow players all wish that Imran bhai is safe and well wherever he is,” Basit said. He added that if Imran Khan required medical treatment, the government should provide him with the necessary healthcare facilities.
Basit described his remarks as a personal request to the government, saying that he and many others had longstanding memories and associations with the former captain.
Earlier, former Pakistan captain and wicketkeeper-batter Moin Khan had also appealed to the authorities to ensure that Imran Khan received proper healthcare facilities and basic rights as a former prime minister and Pakistani citizen.
Moin urged other cricketers to raise their voices for Imran Khan, emphasizing his significant contribution to Pakistan cricket and noting that many players, including himself, had played under his captaincy.
