Imran Khan’s Sons Challenge Government to Allow Independent Medical Check-Up

ISLAMABAD: The sons of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan have challenged the government to allow an independent medical examination of their father, saying that if he is in good health, authorities should provide evidence to prove it.

Qasim Khan and Sulaiman Khan made the remarks during an online press briefing, saying they would make every possible effort to secure their father’s release and would contact governments, parliamentarians and human rights organizations in Western capitals over his detention and what they described as inadequate access to medical care.

Qasim Khan said he had spoken with PTI supporters in the United States and efforts had also been made to reach US President Donald Trump. However, he said, Trump’s interests were currently different.

Expressing concern over Imran Khan’s health, Qasim said that if the government maintained that his father was completely healthy, it should arrange an independent medical examination to establish the facts.

Sulaiman Khan said he had never seen his father anxious or distressed and described him as a strong-minded person. However, he said reports about Imran Khan’s blood pressure and anxiety had caused concern for the family.

He said his last in-person meeting with his father was on November 22, 2022, when Imran Khan had been shot, while their last telephone conversation took place in March 2026.

Sulaiman demanded that the government provide them with evidence showing that their father was in good health.

Qasim alleged that Pakistan’s current rulers were making various offers to the US president, ranging from access to critical minerals to a Nobel Prize nomination, in an effort to remain in power.

He said the family had also contacted the British government regarding their desire to visit Pakistan but had not received the required cooperation. According to him, the brothers had repeatedly wanted to travel to Pakistan but were prevented from doing so due to concerns over possible arrest and security.

Qasim said the family would continue contacting the international community regarding Imran Khan’s detention and medical condition. He stressed that the PTI founder needed immediate access to appropriate medical facilities and specialist doctors.

Sulaiman, meanwhile, accused the authorities of mistreating political opponents and claimed that Pakistan was “moving towards dictatorship.” He also alleged that his father was being held in solitary confinement.
