I Didn’t Create the Group That Attacked Uniform and Celebrated It: Iqrar-ul-Hassan

ISLAMABAD: Head of Awam Raj Party Iqrar-ul-Hassan has reacted to the Frontier University incident, questioning why PML-N supporters and what he called the “new fifth-generation warriors” were criticizing him.
In a statement, Iqrar-ul-Hassan said, “Did we create the group that attacked the uniform and then celebrated it?” He alleged that such groups had been created in the name of fifth-generation warfare and argued that those who created them were now facing the consequences.
In another post on social media, he asked whether PML-N supporters would still be defending the colonel involved in the controversy, and whether PTI supporters would still be criticizing him, if the no-confidence motion had not taken place and Imran Khan’s second government and the establishment were still on the same page.
Referring to a 2020 incident involving the wife of a colonel and police officials, Iqrar-ul-Hassan said that at the time, PML-N supporters had criticized her while PTI supporters had portrayed her as a victim. He said the situation was now completely reversed.
He argued that the underlying problem was the failure to follow consistent principles in politics. According to him, an action considered acceptable when one party is in government is often condemned as completely unacceptable when another party comes to power.
Iqrar-ul-Hassan said political supporters had increasingly become personality-driven and unquestioning, with their conscience, thinking and opinions becoming dependent on the interests and power of others. He said this had mistakenly come to be regarded as political awareness.
