Faiz Hameed’s Privileges to Be Withdrawn, His Associates Will Also Be Held Accountable: Faisal Vawda

Islamabad: Senator Faisal Vawda has said that privileges of former ISI chief Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hameed will be withdrawn following his conviction, and all individuals involved with him in alleged conspiracies will also be held accountable, whether military or civilian.
Speaking during a TV talk show, Faisal Vawda claimed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has been politically reduced from demanding the release of its founder to merely seeking meetings with him. He said he was removed from the party a year before the May 9 incidents because he was trying to stop PTI from moving in that direction.
Vawda said that Faiz Hameed has so far been convicted in only one case, adding that the punishment was neither excessive nor lenient. He further alleged that Faiz Hameed is now preparing to provide evidence and testify regarding the May 9 events and against Imran Khan in order to avoid conviction in further cases.
According to Faisal Vawda, this development will further tighten the noose around Imran Khan and his close associates, as the scope of the investigations continues to expand. He added that accountability will be across the board and that the possibility of military trials cannot be ruled out.
He claimed that PTI has retreated from D-Chowk to being confined to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and described the party as politically defeated.
The senator also alleged that after sentencing, Faiz Hameed’s privileges would be withdrawn and claimed that any wealth moved abroad was not held in his own name but through multiple frontmen, both inside and outside the country. He said all those involved with Faiz Hameed in the alleged plot would face accountability, regardless of their status.
