Ayaz Sadiq Says System Is Delivering, Not Failing

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has rejected the impression that the country’s system has failed, saying it is functioning and delivering results.

Speaking to reporters, Ayaz Sadiq said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members continued to meet him. In a light-hearted remark, he said he regularly recites Ayat-ul-Kursi, Durood Sharif and the four Quls over everyone in the National Assembly, adding that the situation improves after his “blowing” prayers.

The National Assembly speaker said he was still involved as a mediator in efforts to resolve differences between the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the government. He expressed hope that the issues between the two sides would eventually be settled.

Ayaz Sadiq also urged PTI lawmakers to return to parliamentary committees, saying their absence had left the field open. He said committee work was continuing despite their non-participation, but their presence would enable them to play a more effective role in holding the government accountable.
