Nawaz Sharif Prevented Imran Khan’s Treatment at Shifa Hospital, Claims KP Chief Minister

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has alleged that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif prevented PTI founder Imran Khan from receiving treatment at Shifa International Hospital, claiming that the government ignored a Supreme Court order regarding his medical care.

Addressing a Street Movement gathering at Sawari Chowk in Buner, Afridi said that three Supreme Court judges had ordered that Imran Khan be treated in the presence of his sister, but alleged that the government did not allow him to be transferred to Shifa International Hospital.

He accused the federal and Punjab governments of being “fake governments” and alleged that the Supreme Court’s order had been disregarded.

The KP chief minister reiterated that the PTI’s long march would take place on September 27, claiming that around four million people would participate. He said the participants would not return empty-handed and described the date as a potential turning point in the country’s politics.

“We will not be afraid of bullets or guns,” Afridi said, adding that the PTI had only two options: achieving “real freedom” or accepting martyrdom.

He urged party workers and supporters not to be distracted from their political objective and said they would continue supporting Imran Khan.

Afridi described Imran Khan as the leader of the country’s youth and claimed that he was the only leader capable of improving Pakistan’s economy, restoring national sovereignty and promoting national unity.

He also accused the ruling leadership of violating constitutional principles and creating separate standards of justice for powerful and ordinary citizens.

The chief minister alleged that the country had suffered corruption amounting to Rs5.3 trillion under the current rulers, without providing details or evidence for the claim.

He said his party would oppose every decision that was against the interests of the people and vowed that its supporters would continue their political struggle.

Afridi also praised Pakistan’s youth, saying they were the country’s future leaders and decision-makers. He said young Pakistanis should be viewed as the “Shaheens of Iqbal” rather than being underestimated.
