Monsoon Rains Lash Punjab, Rawalpindi Records Highest Rainfall

LAHORE:Monsoon rains have caused widespread waterlogging across several districts of Punjab, with Rawalpindi recording the highest rainfall during the past 24 hours, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
The PDMA report said Rawalpindi received 130 millimeters of rain, the highest in the province.
Other areas also received significant rainfall, including Attock with 79mm, Lahore Airport 65mm, Wazirabad 50mm, and Gujranwala and Jhelum 39mm each.
Narowal recorded 33mm of rain, Mandi Bahauddin 30mm, Gujrat 19mm, Sialkot 11mm and Murree 7mm.
According to the PDMA spokesperson, the sixth spell of monsoon rains is expected to continue until August 21.
Commissioners, deputy commissioners and relevant government departments across Punjab have been directed to remain alert and take necessary precautionary measures.
PDMA Director General Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa advised citizens to remain in safe locations during thunderstorms and lightning and to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from potential hazards.
