Suzuki Alto Remains Pakistan’s Best-Selling Car as Easy 3- and 5-Year Installment Plans Attract Buyers

ISLAMABAD: Despite rising vehicle prices and higher bank financing costs, the **Suzuki Alto** has remained Pakistan’s best-selling car in 2026, with affordable three- and five-year installment plans continuing to attract buyers.

### Rising Auto Financing Costs

Buying a new car has become increasingly difficult for Pakistan’s middle class as both vehicle prices and bank markup rates have surged. According to recent figures, auto financing costs have increased by 3.4 percent on a monthly basis and 38 percent year-on-year.

Despite the higher borrowing costs, demand for car financing remains strong. Auto loans in Pakistan reached a record **Rs381.69 billion** by June 2026 as many consumers continued to rely on bank financing to purchase vehicles.

### Suzuki Alto 2026 Prices

Owing to its affordability, fuel efficiency, and strong resale value, the Suzuki Alto remains the preferred choice for many buyers. Following the latest taxes, the revised prices are:

| Variant | Price (PKR) |
| ———— | ———-: |
| Alto VXR | Rs2,994,861 |
| Alto VXR AGS | Rs3,166,480 |
| Alto VXL AGS | Rs3,326,446 |

### Easy Installment Plans

Banks are offering financing with a **45 percent down payment** under both three- and five-year repayment plans.

The **three-year plan** is designed for buyers who want to repay their loans quickly. Although the monthly installments are higher, customers pay less in total financing charges over the life of the loan.

The **five-year plan** offers lower monthly installments, making it a more affordable option for buyers seeking to manage their household budgets while purchasing a new vehicle.

### Taxes and Market Conditions

Recent increases in taxes, including higher GST and environmental support levies introduced in the latest federal budget, have raised vehicle prices. At the same time, changes in the State Bank’s policy rate have made auto leasing more expensive.

Industry experts say buyers are now focusing less on the total cost of a vehicle and more on whether they can comfortably afford the monthly installment.

### Why Alto Continues to Lead

Automotive analysts believe the current economic environment has strengthened the Alto’s position in the market. Its budget-friendly price, excellent fuel economy from the 658cc engine, and low running costs have made it the most practical option for many Pakistani consumers.

Experts also note that the record volume of auto loans indicates a growing shift among buyers from larger, more expensive vehicles to economical models like the Suzuki Alto, allowing them to own a new car while keeping monthly expenses under control.
