What Is a Prize Bond?
Prize bonds are a popular savings and prize-based financial instrument in Pakistan. Holders retain the face value of their bonds while getting an opportunity to win cash prizes through draws held at scheduled intervals.
Prize bond draws for different denominations, including Rs100 bonds, are conducted on specified dates throughout the year, giving each eligible bond an opportunity to win.
How to Buy a Prize Bond
Citizens can purchase prize bonds by visiting designated State Bank of Pakistan offices, specified commercial bank branches or National Savings Centres, along with a copy of a valid identity card and the required application form.
After purchasing a prize bond, holders are advised to keep the original bond safe, as it may be required along with relevant documents when claiming a prize.
How to Claim Prize Money
Prize winners can claim their winnings by completing the prescribed claim form and approaching the relevant State Bank of Pakistan Banking Services Corporation field office, designated commercial bank branch or National Savings Centre.
Winners are required to provide the original prize bond, necessary identification documents and other relevant paperwork. The prize money will be paid after fulfilling the applicable requirements and procedures.
Tax on Prize Money
According to available information for Tax Year 2026, prize money from prize bonds is subject to taxation. The applicable rate is 15% for active taxpayers listed on the Active Taxpayer List (ATL) and 30% for non-filers.
The applicable tax will be deducted from the prize amount before payment. The same tax rules will apply to winners of the first, second and third prizes according to their respective winnings.
