Karachi Water Corporation Raises Water and Sewerage Tariffs by 7.05%

KARACHI:** The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation has increased water and sewerage tariffs by 7.05% for the fiscal year 2026-27.

The Sindh government has approved the revised tariff for the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation and issued an official gazette notification confirming the increase.

According to the notification, the tariffs for water and sewerage services have been raised by an average of 7.05% based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI). The revised rates will take effect from July 1, 2026.

The notification said the Water Corporation’s board had approved a 7.05% increase in water and sewerage charges for both retail and bulk consumers for the 2026-27 fiscal year. The Sindh government has now formally incorporated the revised rates into the official gazette.

Under the revised tariff, monthly water and sewerage charges for residential plots will be determined according to plot size. Fixed monthly water and sewerage charges have also been introduced for various types of commercial establishments and shops.

According to the Water Corporation, the revised tariff is aimed at strengthening the institution’s revenue base and improving financial resources needed for the sustainable provision of water supply, sewerage system maintenance, repairs, rehabilitation and other municipal services in Karachi.

Under the Water Board Act, the Water Corporation is authorized to increase tariffs by 7% annually, and such adjustments are generally made each year.
