More Sporting Opportunities Being Provided to Balochistan Youth, Girls Marathon to Uncover New Talent: Meena Majeed Baloch

QUETTA: Balochistan Sports and Youth Affairs Adviser Meena Majeed Baloch and Sports Secretary Dara Baloch have said that the provincial government and Sports Department are taking measures to provide maximum opportunities to young people to participate in sports, with various competitions helping new talent emerge in the province.

They made these remarks while addressing a ceremony held in Quetta on Wednesday to distribute prizes among the winners of a girls’ marathon race organized by the Balochistan Sports Department as part of Independence Day celebrations. Director General Sports Dr. Yasir Bazai was also present on the occasion.

Earlier, the girls’ marathon began from the Shuhada Ziarat Chowk and concluded at Ayub Sports Complex Quetta. Hundreds of girls participated in the race.

Sports Adviser Meena Majeed Baloch distributed cash prizes of Rs50,000, Rs30,000 and Rs20,000 among the first three position holders, respectively, while medals were also awarded to other participants who demonstrated outstanding performances.

Speaking on the occasion, Meena Majeed said the enthusiastic participation of young people in Independence Day celebrations across Balochistan since August 1 was a clear expression of their immense love for Pakistan.

She said the decision to start the marathon from Shuhada Ziarat Chowk was aimed at paying tribute to the brave police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty and sending a message against terrorism.

Sports Secretary Dara Baloch said the Sports Department was committed to promoting positive and healthy activities among young people and was organizing various sporting competitions across the province.

He said a range of sports competitions had been organized in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan as part of Independence Day celebrations, and the girls’ marathon was also part of these activities.

Dara Baloch said Balochistan had no shortage of sporting talent. Following the special directives of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and Sports Adviser Meena Majeed, the Sports Department was ensuring that young athletes received all possible facilities and opportunities.

He said these initiatives were helping emerging athletes showcase their abilities and enabling new sporting talent from Balochistan to come forward.:::
