‘If Founder Is Not Allowed to Meet Us, We Will Turn Entire Pakistan into D-Chowk on Thursday,’ Says Sohail Afridi

ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has warned that if a meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan is not arranged on Thursday, the party will turn the entire country into a “D-Chowk” at 10pm.

Speaking at a press conference at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad alongside PTI leaders, including Salman Akram Raja, Afridi said all parliamentarians would visit Adiala Jail on Thursday, while lawmakers would stage a sit-in outside the Supreme Court the following day.

He said Imran Khan’s family had guaranteed that neither the family nor the party would discuss politics during the meeting and urged the authorities to accept the guarantee and facilitate the meeting.

Afridi said the party’s only demand was that Imran Khan receive the best possible medical treatment. He also expressed concern over the health of Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, and said concerns about the PTI founder’s health must be addressed.

The KP chief minister alleged that Imran Khan had been “abducted” rather than arrested and was being kept in jail unjustly. He claimed that Khan was completely fit when he was taken into custody and held the government, judiciary and prison administration responsible for his health while in Adiala Jail.

Afridi further claimed that Pakistan’s youth were frustrated and angry, saying many young people could no longer see a future for themselves in the country due to unemployment and other difficulties.

“I have travelled across Pakistan, and the youth are ready to come out,” he said, warning that the situation could become difficult to control if large numbers of young people took to the streets.

He reiterated that the September 27 long march would go ahead, claiming that the entire nation would come out on that day and that the authorities would have no opportunity to contain the situation.
