Terrorists Use Advanced Quadcopters to Attack Police Stations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa:In a growing trend of technologically advanced militant tactics, terrorists launched yet another attack on a police station in the Miryan area of Bannu using a modern quadcopter drone. According to police officials, this marks the fifth such attack on the same police station within a month.
A police officer told Dawn that the quadcopter dropped explosive material on the police station premises, but fortunately, there were no casualties or damage reported. All personnel stationed at the facility remained safe during the incident. Officers attempted to shoot down the drone but failed due to its high altitude.
This drone attack highlights the increasing use of modern unmanned aerial technology by terrorist groups, particularly the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which the military has previously blamed for similar remote-controlled drone attacks throughout the province over the past year.
In response, a search operation has been launched to apprehend the attackers, and security measures have been tightened across the district.
Meanwhile, in Lakki Marwat district, police successfully thwarted a late-night terrorist assault on the Sarai Gambila police station. According to officials, around a dozen armed militants launched a coordinated attack using both light and heavy weaponry in an attempt to seize control of the station.
The attackers surrounded the building and tried to strengthen their positions before initiating heavy gunfire. After an intense exchange of fire, the terrorists retreated. All police personnel survived the attack without injury.
The Sarai Gambila police station is strategically located near the Gambila River alongside the Peshawar-Karachi Highway and has been targeted multiple times in the past.
Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, and Regional Police Officer Bannu, Sajjad Khan, commended the police force for their bravery and for successfully repelling the attack, preventing the militants from occupying the station.
