Opposition Leader Malik Ahmed Bhatcher to Challenge Anti-Terrorism Court’s Verdict

Lahore: Malik Ahmed Bhatcher, the Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly and a senior leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has announced his decision to challenge the verdict of the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in the 9th May case. The court sentenced him to 10 years in prison in a case filed at the Musa Khel police station, with the judgment delivered by ATC Judge Muhammad Naeem Sheikh.
In an exclusive conversation with Samaa, Malik Ahmed Bhatcher strongly criticized the ATC’s decision, claiming it was politically motivated and unconstitutional. He alleged that the judgment was handed down without adhering to the legal processes and principles, calling it a politically driven verdict.
“On receiving the written decision, I will approach the High Court,” Bhatcher added. He emphasized that the court’s ruling had deviated from constitutional norms and that the legal procedure had not been followed in his case.
The PTI leader’s comments signal a commitment to pursue all available legal avenues in order to challenge the decision.
