Iran-Oman Strait of Hormuz Shipping Deal Nears Final Stage as Oil Prices Hold Around $80

Dubai:A proposed agreement between Iran and Oman on commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has reportedly entered its final stage, while global crude oil prices remain close to **$80 per barrel** amid ongoing diplomatic efforts and persistent security concerns across the Middle East.
According to international media reports, Iran has indicated that preparations for a joint statement with Oman on restoring commercial navigation through the Strait of Hormuz are in their final phase.
Meanwhile, the **US Central Command (CENTCOM)** said American forces have redirected **48 commercial vessels** during ongoing operations in the Strait of Hormuz as part of efforts to maintain maritime traffic under its security strategy.
Separately, Yemen’s Houthi movement claimed responsibility for targeting another Saudi oil tanker in the Gulf of Aden, marking the second alleged attack on a Saudi tanker within 24 hours and raising fresh concerns over maritime security in the region.
Reports also said Israeli shelling continued in southern Lebanon, highlighting ongoing regional tensions that energy markets are closely monitoring for potential supply risks.
At the diplomatic level, US Secretary of State **Marco Rubio** and UK Foreign Secretary **David Miliband** reaffirmed their commitment to keeping the Strait of Hormuz open for international maritime trade while expressing hope that negotiations between the United States and Iran could lead to a broader agreement.
Diplomatic sources also said Iranian Foreign Minister **Abbas Araghchi** has held discussions with his European counterparts to exchange views on the ongoing negotiations and the wider regional situation.
Economic analysts believe that positive progress in talks involving Iran, Oman, and other stakeholders could improve stability in global oil supplies. However, continued security threats in the **Red Sea**, the **Gulf of Aden**, and the **Strait of Hormuz** are likely to remain key factors influencing oil prices.
Analysts added that diplomatic developments in the coming days could play a crucial role in shaping global energy markets, international shipping, and the overall security outlook in the Middle East.
