Three Officials Removed After AC Malfunction at Event Attended by KP Chief Minister
PESHAWAR: Three government employees were removed from their positions after the air conditioning system reportedly failed to function properly during an event attended by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi at Nishtar Hall, according to a report by journalist Muhammad Faheem.
The ceremony was organized by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Trade Union. According to the report, organizers were initially asked to pay Rs100,000 as hall rent, Rs20,000 per hour for the air conditioning system, and Rs15,000 in service charges.
The hall rental fee was later waived, but the organizers paid the air conditioning and service charges.
During the event, the air conditioning system reportedly did not perform effectively, causing the chief minister to feel uncomfortable in the heat, with visible perspiration on his forehead.

According to Muhammad Faheem, the Chief Minister’s Personal Staff Officer brought the matter to the attention of the Director General of the Culture and Tourism Authority, after which disciplinary action was taken against those held responsible.
The Director of Culture and Tourism was removed from the post and reassigned as Director of Investment, while the Deputy Director and Caretaker of Nishtar Hall were also removed from their positions. In addition, an electrician employed on a fixed-pay contract was dismissed from service.
Officials reportedly stated that the failure of the air conditioning system during the chief minister’s visit was considered unacceptable, prompting immediate administrative action.
