Three Arrested After Protest at Karachi Police Station Over Alleged Assault on Transgender Detainee

Karachi:Three transgender individuals were arrested after a protest outside the Boat Basin Police Station in Karachi, where demonstrators allegedly damaged government property following claims of police mistreatment of a transgender detainee.
According to police, members of the transgender community gathered outside the police station and pelted stones at the building. The incident reportedly damaged **Safe City surveillance cameras** and the windows of a police vehicle.
Police said a case has been registered against those involved in the vandalism, and three transgender individuals have been taken into custody.
Responding to the allegations, police claimed that several beggars had been detained on the instructions of the Assistant Commissioner. During the operation, one transgender detainee reportedly suffered a nosebleed. Police denied allegations of physical abuse, accusing protesters of portraying the incident as a case of police violence.
The allegations of police misconduct have not been independently verified. Authorities have not announced whether an official inquiry into the incident will be conducted.
