Balochistan Government Committed to Peace, Development and Public Welfare, Says Provincial Minister Sadiq Umrani
Quetta: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Central Executive Committee member, Parliamentary Leader, and Balochistan Minister for Irrigation Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani said the provincial cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, is making serious efforts to promote peace, development, and prosperity across Balochistan.
The remarks came during a meeting in Quetta with a delegation of the All Pakistan Goods Transport Company, led by its Chairman Mir Nawab Khan Mengal. The delegation also included Haji Muhammad Farooq, President of the Balochistan Retail Goods Association, and other representatives.
During the meeting, the delegation informed the provincial minister about the losses suffered by transport operators due to the prevailing security situation in the province. According to the delegation, goods transport vehicles are used to deliver cargo across Pakistan.
The representatives claimed that 187 loaded transport vehicles had allegedly been seized in Balochistan over the past three months, while 13 more vehicles were reportedly taken during the previous week. They warned that if such incidents continue, they may be compelled to call for a nationwide transport strike.
Responding to the concerns, Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani urged the transporters to avoid strikes or any action that could directly affect the public. He said the provincial government considers the protection of citizens’ lives and property to be one of its primary responsibilities.
The minister said that the provincial cabinet, under Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, is working diligently to improve security, accelerate development, and bring prosperity to the province, adding that the results of these efforts would become visible soon.
The delegation requested the minister to arrange a meeting with the chief minister so they could present their concerns directly. Umrani assured the delegation that he would facilitate the meeting and make every effort to help resolve their legitimate issues.
