Iran Signals Willingness to Resume Talks with U.S. Through Pakistan, Al Arabiya Claims
ISLAMABAD: Iran has conveyed its willingness to resume negotiations with the United States through Pakistan, according to a report by Al Arabiya, citing informed sources.
The report claims that Tehran has informed Pakistan it is prepared to participate in a new round of talks in Geneva, Doha, or Islamabad. According to the sources, Iran has proposed that the negotiations proceed under a memorandum of understanding and follow a phased agenda.
The reported agenda would begin with discussions on issues related to the Strait of Hormuz, followed by talks on Iran’s frozen assets, and finally negotiations concerning Iran’s nuclear program. The report also states that Iran has rejected any proposal for establishing a new maritime corridor through the Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump has reportedly maintained a pause in military strikes on Iran to allow room for diplomatic efforts. Speaking to Fox News, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz said President Trump wants to give diplomacy an opportunity to move forward, though he did not provide details about any potential negotiations.
According to the report, military strikes eased over the weekend after 13 consecutive nights of U.S. bombardment, while no new retaliatory actions by Iran against neighboring countries were reported during the same period.
Separately, Reuters, citing a senior Iranian source, reported that Tehran has informed Washington it will refrain from retaliatory military action as long as the United States suspends its attacks. The source said Iran’s position remains based on the principle of “attack for attack,” meaning that if U.S. strikes cease, Iran will also halt its military response.
The Iranian source reportedly added, however, that Tehran remains skeptical of Washington’s intentions and believes the current pause in hostilities could be a temporary strategic move rather than a lasting effort toward peace.
