Lahore: Torrential monsoon rains and flash floods have caused widespread devastation across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Hazara Division, claiming the lives of 14 people, including seven children, and injuring 19 others in the past 24 hours.

According to disaster management authorities, heavy rainfall has inundated low-lying areas, damaged homes, disrupted electricity supply, and triggered flash floods and landslides in several districts.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa alone, 12 people lost their lives and 18 were injured over the past 48 hours due to collapsing roofs and walls, as well as flood-related incidents. The deceased include five men, five children, and two women. Authorities reported that three houses were completely destroyed while 15 others sustained partial damage.

In Peshawar, heavy rainfall submerged low-lying neighborhoods, with floodwater entering residential homes. The city’s power supply was severely affected as dozens of electricity feeders tripped, resulting in prolonged outages.

Rescue 1122 teams successfully evacuated 12 people stranded by flash floods in Sahibzada Town, Akora Khattak, while six others trapped near the Adamzai Sheet Glass Factory were safely relocated.

Heavy rains continue to affect Mansehra, Naran, Kaghan, and Balakot, where landslides have blocked several roads. Officials have restored access to the Saif-ul-Muluk Lake Road and rescued vehicles returning from the tourist destination, while efforts to reopen other routes remain underway.

In Mardan, two children were killed when the roof of a house collapsed, leaving their mother and sister seriously injured. Meanwhile, three bodies were recovered after a vehicle was swept away by flash floods in Landi Kotal.

In Azad Kashmir’s Neelum Valley, a cloudburst caused severe flooding that destroyed 25 shops, a school, and six houses, leaving approximately 25,000 residents stranded and isolated from surrounding areas.

Emergency response teams remain on high alert as authorities continue rescue and relief operations in the affected regions. Residents have been advised to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel in flood-prone areas.
